Rewiring Energy Policy

Leading organisation puts household electrification on the national agenda

Original research led by Dr Saul Griffith in America showed that household, transport and industrial electrification is the fastest pathway for rapid emissions reduction. In 2021 Dan co-founded Rewiring Australia with Saul to repeat this modelling in Australia and reframe climate action as a positive story during a cost-of-living crisis. As CEO Dan designed Rewiring Australia’s strategy and led the organisation to deliver impactful policy development, government relations and public advocacy. Within three years “household electrification” was the household name for lower bills and fossil free energy. Federal, state and local governments committed around $2 billon to electrification and efficiency. Rewiring Australia formed the $12 million Electrify 2515 Community Pilot, with $5.4 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and raised $6 million, mostly from foundations in Australia and America.
